It is healthy to leave the events of 2018 in the past and to focus on the new year and its possibilities. For most of us, the Christmas and holiday period was a time of indulgence, social frivolities and relaxing. Whilst we all look forward to this season of warmth and laughter, the waistline can be a reminder that other priorities soon follow.
I like to start the new year with liver detoxification as it helps the body clear out the waste and gives it a fresh start. It makes me feel lighter, more energised and focused. It is good to detox with a partner so you can encourage one another to stick to a healthy diet and avoid eating Christmas and party leftovers that are still lurking in the fridge and pantry!
Detoxification should be done under professional supervision as some people may carry heavy loads of toxins and heavy metals which once liberated can give unwanted and unpleasant side effects. So it is important to follow a carefully planned diet, and take supportive and nutritional supplements to assist the body's work and protect it from potential damage. Summer supplies plentiful fresh fruit and salads so detox is easy.
